Worth Leaving For This Weekend: Halloween, Stone Crab & Live Music in Southwest Florida | October 23–25, 2026

Southwest Florida apparently decided one Halloween celebration wasn't enough.
And I'm not complaining.
We've got glowing downtown streets, waterfront seafood festivals, haunted trails, live music, decorated cars, and dogs competing for Halloween costume prizes.
Yes, dogs.
And several of this weekend's best events won't cost you anything to attend.
If you're looking for things to do around Estero, Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, and Naples this weekend, I've done the digging.
Here are the events actually worth putting on your calendar.
1. Happy Haunts Halloween Stroll: Downtown Bonita Springs Gets Spooky
When: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, October 23–25
Time: 5:30–10 PM nightly
Where: Downtown Bonita Springs, Old 41 corridor
Admission: FREE
Downtown Bonita Springs is getting a Halloween makeover.
The city's Happy Haunts Immersive Halloween Experience features illuminated decorations, animated projections on downtown buildings, spooky music, and plenty of opportunities for Halloween photos.
And it's completely free.
The experience runs October 22–31, so you've got several opportunities to check it out.
Important: This is a Halloween light-and-projection experience, not nightly trick-or-treating. The candy-focused Old 41 celebration takes place October 31.
Why it's worth leaving for: A Halloween atmosphere without buying tickets, making reservations, or committing to an expensive evening.
2. Barktober-Fest: Because Your Dog Deserves a Halloween Costume Too
When: Friday, October 23
Time: 6–8 PM
Where: Gulf Coast Town Center
Admission: FREE
If you've ever looked at your dog and thought, "You know what would improve this situation? A tiny Halloween costume," this one's for you.
Gulf Coast Town Center is hosting its rescheduled Barktober-Fest celebration.
Expect Halloween music, pet photo opportunities, balloon art, treats, and a pet costume contest.
The costume contest offers gift-card prizes for the top three winners.
Important: Costume contest participation requires advance registration and a suggested $5 cash donation or an item from the Gulf Coast Humane Society's wish list.
General event attendance is free.
Why it's worth leaving for: Dogs in costumes. Do we really need another reason?
3. Naples Stone Crab Festival: The Most Delicious Excuse to Leave the House
When: Friday–Sunday, October 23–25
Where: Tin City Waterfront Shops
Admission: FREE; food and drinks purchased separately
Florida stone crab season is officially underway, and Naples is celebrating.
The annual Naples Stone Crab Festival returns to the waterfront at Tin City.
Visitors can enjoy fresh seafood, live music, waterfront entertainment, and the atmosphere of one of Naples' best-known historic shopping destinations.
And here's the beauty of this event.
You don't have to purchase a seafood dinner to enjoy the festival.
Admission is free.
Of course, if you're planning to eat stone crab, budget accordingly. Those claws aren't exactly handing themselves out for free.
Why it's worth leaving for: Fresh local seafood, live entertainment, and waterfront views in one outing.
4. Ghosts & Ghouls Candy Crawl: Halloween Takes Over Gulf Coast Town Center
When: Saturday, October 24
Time: 5–8 PM
Where: Gulf Coast Town Center, Fort Myers
Admission: FREE
Saturday evening brings another Halloween celebration to Gulf Coast Town Center.
The Ghosts & Ghouls Candy Crawl includes trick-or-treating at participating businesses, roaming costumed characters, face painting, balloon art, and a costume contest.
Here's the schedule:
5–7 PM: Trick-or-treating throughout the shopping center.
7–8 PM: Costume contest.
The costume contest includes age-group categories and a group costume prize.
Important: Advance registration is required for costume contest participants.
Start at the courtyard to access the event's virtual trick-or-treat map.
Why it's worth leaving for: A free Halloween outing with plenty of activities beyond collecting candy.
5. Halloween Spooktacular Car Show: Costumes, Candy & Classic Cars
When: Saturday, October 24
Time: 10 AM–3 PM
Where: Bell Tower
Spectator admission: FREE
Halloween meets horsepower at Bell Tower.
The annual Halloween Spooktacular Car Show brings together Corvettes, trucks, Jeeps, and other vehicles for a Halloween-themed automotive celebration.
Expect decorated vehicles, music, costume contests, and trunk-or-treat activities.
The organizers are also awarding more than 100 trophies.
If you're bringing a vehicle to compete, registration fees apply. Spectators can enjoy the show without paying the vehicle entry fee.
Why it's worth leaving for: It's a little different from the usual pumpkin patch, and the combination of Halloween costumes and custom vehicles makes for some excellent people-watching.
6. Haunted Walk: Face Your Fears at Calusa Nature Center
When: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, October 23–25
Time: Evening sessions, approximately 7:30–10:30 PM
Where: Calusa Nature Center & Planetarium, 3450 Ortiz Avenue, Fort Myers
Admission: $20 advance | $25 at the door
Want something a little more intense?
The Haunted Walk at Calusa Nature Center transforms outdoor nature trails into a nighttime Halloween experience.
This isn't your average walk through the woods.
The event features an immersive haunted-trail experience designed to deliver actual scares.
And your admission supports the nonprofit nature center and its animal care programs.
Important parking information: Construction is affecting Ortiz Avenue. Complimentary off-site parking and shuttle service are scheduled for Friday, October 23, but not Saturday or Sunday this weekend.
Check your ticket's arrival instructions before leaving.
Why it's worth leaving for: If your Halloween plans need a little more screaming and a little less pumpkin decorating, this is your event.
7. Nightmare on Old 41: Free Live Music & Halloween Mischief
When: Saturday, October 24
Where: Sugarshack Downtown, 27421 Old 41 Road, Bonita Springs
Admission: FREE
Now this is the kind of Halloween event I can get behind.
Sugarshack Downtown is participating in the Nightmare on Old 41 celebration with a special night called "Childers of the Corn."
The live music lineup includes:
1–4 PM: Taylor Reed
7–10 PM: Bombargo with special guest Cannibal Kids
The evening also includes Halloween-themed food and drink specials and a costume contest scheduled for 10:30 PM.
The venue has announced free admission and complimentary trolley rides connecting participating locations.
And if you want an earlier start to the weekend, the Derek Lersch Band performs Friday, October 23, from 7–10 PM.
Why it's worth leaving for: Free live music, Halloween costumes, and an excuse to experience downtown Bonita Springs after dark.
8. Farmer Mike's Fall Festival: Get Lost in a Corn Maze
When: Friday–Sunday, October 23–25
Where: Farmer Mike's U-Pick of Bonita Springs, 26031 Morton Avenue
Admission: Ticketed; check current pricing before visiting
If your idea of fall includes pumpkins, corn mazes, and getting lost in a field, Farmer Mike's has you covered.
The farm's 12th Annual Fall Festival is underway.
This year's five-acre corn maze has a "Journey to the Center of the Earth" theme, complete with 16 game stations.
Visitors can also explore seasonal vendors, purchase food and treats, and enjoy opportunities to pick pumpkins and flowers.
Weekend hours:
Friday: 6–9:30 PM
Saturday: 9 AM–10 PM
Sunday: 9 AM–9 PM
The farm also offers a nighttime flashlight maze experience on Sundays, but not the haunted maze.
Children ages two and younger receive free admission.
Why it's worth leaving for: It's one of those classic fall outings that feels a little less like Florida and a little more like autumn.
Current general admission prices weren't clearly published on the organizer's accessible event page, so check ticket pricing before heading over.
9. Boo-Tanical Evening: Halloween Meets Wildlife
When: Friday, October 23
Time: 5:30–8:30 PM
Where: Wonder Gardens, 27180 Old 41 Road, Bonita Springs
Admission: Regular paid admission or eligible Wonder Gardens membership
For something a little different, Wonder Gardens is hosting a Halloween-themed evening experience.
Activities include decorations, photo opportunities, games, face painting, educational experiences, and special animal enrichment.
The event is included with regular admission, although certain activities may cost extra.
Current published admission prices are $19 for adults, $17 for seniors, and $14 for children ages 3–12.
Children under three are admitted free.
Why it's worth leaving for: Halloween decorations and wildlife make an interesting combination, especially if you're looking for an alternative to traditional haunted attractions.
Stephanie's Weekend Picks
If I were narrowing everything down, here's where I'd start.
Best free Halloween experience: Happy Haunts in downtown Bonita Springs.
Best date-night option: Nightmare on Old 41 and live music at Sugarshack.
Best food-focused outing: Naples Stone Crab Festival.
Best actual scare: Calusa Nature Center's Haunted Walk.
Best outing with your dog: Barktober-Fest at Gulf Coast Town Center.
And if you're trying to keep your weekend spending under control, you've got several options that don't require purchasing admission.
Because having fun in Southwest Florida shouldn't always involve spending $100 just to leave your driveway.
